As we go about our busy daily lives we often don't think about how the way that we live may affect the environment around us. When most of us were younger we were often taught that the trees in the forests, jungles and rainforests were, in effect, acting as the lungs of the world. By cutting down large amounts of trees, we are in a real sense cutting out th elung of the world and the positive benefits of these trees in these areas are decreased.
This happens because trees need carbon dioxide to survive. When large areas of trees are cut down in one area, the balance is upset. The remaining trees can’t absorb all of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. One of the results of this i that the carbon dioxide level rises in volume in the atmosphere. This is also why deforestation may be one of the causes of global warming.
There are other factors as well that contribute to the cause of global warming.Chemicals like methane and nitrous oxide, while in small amounts are not enough to cause damage to the atmosphere and environment, they may be causes of global warming when they are the result of a number of man made activities.
These activities include the raising of domestic animals such as cows in a large collective area. In addition, the growth of rice in flooded paddy fields is another possible cause. Other chemical causes of global warming can be seen in the artificial fertilizers that we use.
When all of these actions are considered individually, it's easy to dismiss these as causes of global warming. There is however, a lot of evidence to support support this case. In order to stop the damaging effects of global warming, we need to look at the different causes of global warming and see what steps we can take to prevent them or to minimize their impact..
